North-East India

About EightLore

There are languages spoken in North-East India that have no relatives anywhere else on earth — not in the next state, not on any other continent. There are festivals that predate the nation by centuries, bridges that are alive, and a market that has been run exclusively by women for five hundred years. Almost none of this has been written about. Some of it has barely been spoken of, even here.

EightLore exists to change that. Not as a travel guide. Not as a tourism platform. As a place where the stories of these eight states are finally told — on their own terms, at their own pace.

Every story on EightLore is written by Subansiri Rhapsode. He begins with a name — never a place, always a person — and follows the story wherever that person leads. One story at a time. Slowly. Without a listicle in sight.
